Last year we stayed in Port Angeles for our three year anneversary. It was so much fun, but so short and we took a day trip over to Victoria, which we loved. We decided that we wanted to go back and that it would be even more fun at Christmas time, with the lights and festivities and we could do all the activities that we didn't have time for.
So we took a trip this winter in mid December, a little too close to Christmas for spending, but we saved up. It was pretty and we had fun, but it was soooooo cold, being that close to the water...and windy and well we weren't quite prepared. We enjoyed many things, for instance they have pubs everywhere and most of them are Irish, very fun. We tried some very tastey foods....only a few weren't worth trying. I discovered a delicious martini called the Dani Boy. We weren;t quite fond of the whole Canadian gravy on fries situation....not for us, but we went to the BC Museum, which aside from the huge indian art section, which I am not so much into, was fabulous. They had an old town Canada set up that you could walk through, even the forests with animals that made it look so real. I was scared I admit it. We also had High Tea and the Empress hotel and viewed the fabulous 20-some christmas trees all uniquely decorated. We shopped of course and walked the small town shops at night. We did a tour of the Bouchart Gardens all lit up at night, and we ate at the Canadian Spagetti Factory...we thought that was funny, who knew. Hmm...what else, oh the beds in the hotel were aweful....serious. The hotel was nicw, but on account of rock hard beds, i would never stay there again. We almost didn't make it there seeing as Caleb didn't quite figure out our alarm clock and we woke up super late, literally running to catch the Victoria Clipper. Thank God we did. Only to be stranded in Victoria BC for an extra night due to bad weather. What an adventure. Well here are a few photos of our fun trip. The huge button was a cute little shop, and I had to take a photo for my cousin lil who collects buttons. The photo of us with the older couple, well lets just say they were too much fun so we asked for a photo. Only to find out that they were on their honeymoon. No joke. First time married ever! They were a strange but neat couple. He asked Caleb if he'd been naughty this year and if he needed coal...lol. I told him he'd been ok. Fun, but not relaxing, next time we are going to a hot beach somewhere.
